What We’ve been up to at Moorman PhotographicsY
es, I know it has been ages since our last blog post. Tina and I have busy with a lot of cool studio projects. We were hand-picked to be among a few select photographers to photograph the Gasparilla Distance Classic in Tampa. Our images provide a different outlook on the event for marketing and social media needs. We had a great time being a part of the team. The weather was perfect and the runners were amped up. I had never witnessed people pushing themselves so hard. It was inspiring to be around such high energy and successful people!
Years ago we were doing a lot of charity photography, but sadly it grew to be too much for us to handle. We decided to choose four charities that we love and fulfill their photography needs for free. I will highlight the other charities in future blog posts, but this time I would like to showcase the St. Petersburg Free Clinic. It is a wonderful organization that not only helps those in need medically but also offers food, clothing, housing, providing women’s shelter and job placement. One of our favorite gigs to photograph is their annual gala at the Tradewinds Hotel called the Battle of the Minds. They have silent and live auctions, great food and a fun game of trivia, hence the name “Battle of the Minds”. Special thanks to the St Pete Free Clinic for serving our community. Keep up the good work! You can contact them to donate or volunteer at https://stpetersburgfreeclinic.org
Tell them that Rob the photographer sent ya.
We have also been lucky enough to be a part of the annual Archie Griffin Celebrity Golf Classic again this year. We have a team of four people, two photographers and two technicians for onsite printing. We create group photos of each team with their celebrity and produce an 8×10 print for each attendee. The celebrity autographs the image so the team members go home with a memento of their favorite celeb. Though this particular project is paid due to the high overhead of the project, I am proud to say that we do the job for less than normal and all the proceeds from the event go to the Boys and Girls Clubs of America.
Our January and February were very full of school portraits and a lot of our clients that need marketing images for the New Year.
For fun, we had the chance to go camping in our little camper in January. We also attended the Professional Photographers of America convention in Atlanta, known as Imaging USA. It was wonderful to connect with old friends and to learn the latest trends in the industry. As a result of attending the convention, we have a long list of things to implement into our business so we can serve you better.
