A headshot has one job: to look like you on your best ordinary day. We light it properly, direct you through it, and give you frames you will actually use.
Sessions run in the studio or at your office. For teams we set up on site and photograph everyone in one visit, so the whole roster matches instead of being assembled from a decade of different phone photos.
Photographed by Moorman Photographics, a locally owned studio on 16th Street North in Saint Petersburg, working across Tampa Bay for over thirty years.
What makes a headshot work
Three things, in order: the eyes are sharp, the light shapes the face rather than flattening it, and the expression looks like you rather than like someone being photographed.
Most of the session is spent on the third one. The technical part is settled in the first few frames; the rest is conversation until you forget the camera is there.
Coming in for a session
- Bring more than you think you need — two or three tops in different necklines and colours gives us options once we see how they photograph.
- Solid colours read better than busy patterns, which fight for attention with your face.
- Mid-tones and darker colours tend to sit back and let the face come forward.
- If you wear glasses, bring them. Anti-glare coatings help; we can also work around reflections.
- Come as you normally look. A headshot that flatters someone you do not resemble is not doing its job.
